Admins use the Model Manager (Beta) tool to create a project model by combining single- or multi-discipline files into a single, federated scene. Before appending these files to the model, you must first upload the individual model files to the project's document repository (Document Management or Documents).

Things to Consider

Prerequisites

Steps

  1. Navigate to the Model Manager (Beta) tool.

  2. Go to the Appended Files card.

  3. Click + Append Files. This opens the a window that matches the user interface for your project's document repository.

  4. Choose one of these options. For more details, see What file formats does the Model Manager support and do I need to manually process them?

    • For Document Management: Under Saved Views, navigate to the folder or sub-folder containing the files to append. Only files with a status marked as active for federation are available to select. To change which statuses are inactive, see Configure Federation Status.

    • For Documents: Under Folders, navigate to the folder or sub-folder containing the files to append.

  5. Select the check box for any files to append to the project model. Selecting a folder appends every file it contains. Files already appended to the project model are skipped automatically. The system only appends new files that you select.

    • For a new model, click Create Project Model.

    • For an existing model, click Update Project Model.

  6. In the Appended Files card, you can now:

    1. To reveal the Actions menu, mark one or more checkboxes.

    2. (For Document Management only) To turn auto-updates on, mark one or more checkboxes in the Auto Update column. With auto-update on, the project' models federated scene updates automatically when the source file changes. However, only if the new file version's status is active for federation. A new version in an inactive status (e.g., In Review) won't update the scene until its status changes.
