Edit a Coordination Issue

The Coordination Issues tool helps you manage and resolve conflicts within your BIM models. Keeping coordination issues up to date ensures that your team has the most accurate information to resolve model conflicts quickly.

Things to Consider

  • Required User Permissions

  • Additional Information:

    • You cannot edit the 'Source File', 'Created From', 'Date Created', or 'Attachments' fields.

    • Edits made in the Procore web application automatically sync with the Procore BIM Plugin.

    • If you edit an issue with the Procore BIM Plugin while the Procore web application is open, you must refresh your browser to see the updates.

Steps

  1. Navigate to the project's Coordination Issues tool.

  2. Go to the All Issues tab.

  3. Find the issue to edit.

  4. Click its Issue link to open the Issue in the side panel.

  5. Go to the General tab.

  6. Edit the fields in the coordination issue as needed.

    Enter a concise, descriptive name for the issue to help collaborators identify it.

    Select this checkbox to limit issue visibility to the Creator, Assignee, and Watchers.

    Provide a detailed summary of the issue. This text is also saved as a viewpoint comment in the final NWD file.

    When creating an issue from Clash Manager, you can also select Append Clash Comments or Append Redline Text.

    Location

    Choose the primary location for the issue.

    Assignee

    Select the person responsible for resolving the issue. Only users with 'Standard' or 'Admin' level permissions for the Coordination Issues tool appear in this list.

    Watchers

    Select team members to receive email updates. Watchers must have at least Read Only permissions.

    Due Date

    Set the target deadline for issue resolution.

    Priority

    Define the level of urgency: Low, Medium, High, or Critical.

    Trade

    Identify the discipline involved (e.g., Mechanical, Electrical).

    Type

    Categorize the issue for reporting. Options include: Building Code, Clash, Client Feedback, Constructability, Coordination, Design Review, Existing Condition, Requirement Change or Other.

    Attachments

    Upload up to 20 relevant images, PDFs, or documents to provide additional context.

    Custom Fields

    If your company creates custom fields for the Coordination Issues tool, they also appear in this page.

  7. Click Icon Markup Close X to close the side panel.

  8. Optional: Go to the Activity tab and choose from these actions:

    • To add a comment: Type your message (or @mention a team member) in the text box and press ENTER.

    • To attach an image: Click Attach, upload a file, and click Submit. Images become part of the permanent record and cannot be modified or deleted.

  9. Optional: Manage the status of the issue.

    Before you begin, ensure you have the necessary permissions:

    • Creators: Can update the status of any issue they create.

    • Admins: Can update the status of any issue in the project.

    • Tool Integration: Actions marked with an asterisk (*) require permissions for the destination tool in Procore (for example, Observations or RFIs).

    Start Work

    Click the Move to In Progress button.

    In Progress

    Signals to the team that the issue is actively being addressed.

    Convert to an Observation*

    Click the More (⋮) menu and choose Move to Observation.

    Moved to Observation

    Creates a linked entry in the project's Observations tool. Learn more

    Elevate to an RFI*

    Click the More (⋮) menu and choose Elevate to New RFI or Elevate to Existing RFI.

    Elevated

    Links the issue to a new or existing entry in the project's RFIs tool. Learn more

    Revert Observation*

    If the issue is Closed, click the Reopen button.

    Open

    Restores the issue to Open. The observation remains in Procore, but is no longer linked.

    Unlink from RFI*

    If the issue has been elevated to an RFI, click the Unlink RFI button.

    Open

    Restores the issue to Open. The RFI remains in Procore but is no longer linked. Learn more

    Close an Issue

    If visible, click the Mark as Closed button. If not visible, click the More (⋮) menu and choose Mark as Closed.

    Closed

    Signals that the issue is resolved or no longer active. Learn more

  10. Click Close (X) to close the side panel.
