Link Related Items to Asset Types

Things to Consider

  • Required User Permissions

  • You can currently link the following items to asset types:

    • Submittals

  • Adding Related Items

    • Adding a related item to an asset type automatically adds it to all assets with that type.

  • Unlinking Related Items

    • Unlinking a related item from an asset type removes it from all associated assets.

    • Related items added to an asset type can be unlinked from an individual asset record.

Steps

Add Related Items to an Asset Type

  1. Navigate to the Project level Assets tool.

  2. Click the Asset Types tab.

  3. Click the asset type name.

  4. Click the Related Items tab.

  5. Click Link Items.

  6. Click Submittals.

  7. Mark the checkboxes for the submittals you want to link.

  8. Click Next.

  9. Optional: Enter notes.

  10. Click Link to attach these items to every asset of that asset type.

Unlink Related Items from an Asset Type

  1. Navigate to the Project level Assets tool.

  2. Click the Asset Types tab.

  3. Click the asset type name.

  4. Click the unlink Icon Unlink icon next to the related item.

  5. Click Remove Link to confirm.

View Related Items for an Asset Type

  1. Navigate to the Project level Assets tool.

  2. Click the Asset Types tab.

  3. Click the asset type name.

  4. Click the Related Items tab.

  5. Click the related item link Icon Go To Details to open it in its original tool.
