Multi-Directional Connections
Click here to return to Connection Manager Tutorials.
Managing data exchange with external collaborators requires flexibility, as different tools serve different workflow needs. Rather than locking your entire account into one direction, you can now configure RFIs and Submittals independently. While each connection is one-way, you decide whether it sends or receives data.
Granular Control: You can independently choose whether you send or receive data for RFIs and Submittals all within a single project connection.
Dual Direction Workflows: This matches real-world collaboration, allowing your company to receive RFIs from a partner while simultaneously sending them Submittals (or vice versa).
Inactive Status: You can now request to receive data from an inactive tool, even if a different tool is currently sending data.
Element | Details and Capabilities |
|---|---|
RFIs | Fully support multi-directional workflows. Configuring the action or status of one tool has zero impact on the other. |
Submittals | Fully support multi-directional workflows. Configuring the action or status of one tool has zero impact on the other. |
Drawings | Excluded from multi-directional adjustments. Drawings can still only be connected by the Receiving user who initiates the project connection. |
Inactive Status | The tool sync is turned off, but it remains fully actionable. You can Request to Receive data from an inactive tool even if your company is actively Sending data on a different tool. |
Sending Company | Your company acts as the data source. Updates, attachments, and records created in your local tool sync outward to the connected project. |
Receiving Company | Your company acts as the destination. Your tool automatically receives synchronized data and updates originating from the Sending account. |
