Hardware-Accelerated GPU Scheduling (HAGS) is a feature introduced in Windows 10 (version 2004 or later) and Windows 11 that transfers GPU memory management from CPU software threads directly to a dedicated scheduling processor on your discrete graphics card.
In the Model Manager (Beta), the Next-Gen Viewer relies on browser-based rendering to process complex, high-density 3D models. By offloading scheduling tasks directly to the GPU, HAGS helps prevent performance bottlenecks between your workstation's CPU and dedicated GPU during intensive model navigation.
You should enable HAGS when navigating 3D models in the Next-Gen Viewer under any of the following conditions:
Viewing Heavy Federated Models: You are opening large 3D models (such as complex federated IFC or NWD files containing tens of thousands of object instances) and experience lagging, stuttering, or low frame rates while panning, orbiting, or zooming.
Experiencing High CPU Bottlenecks: Your workstation runs CPU-intensive desktop applications (such as Autodesk® Revit®, Navisworks®, AutoCAD®, or video conferencing tools) simultaneously while navigating models in the viewer. HAGS offloads rendering scheduling from the CPU to your dedicated GPU, freeing up system resources.
Working on High-Resolution Displays (4K/UHD): You operate multi-monitor or 4K/UHD workstation setups where browser-based rendering in the viewer demands high graphical throughput.

You do not need to enable HAGS when these conditions are true:
Integrated Graphics Only: Your computer relies solely on integrated graphics without a discrete GPU.
Sufficient Native Performance: Your 3D models already render and navigate smoothly in the viewer without latency or dropped frames.
Driver Incompatibility or IT Restrictions: Your graphics driver model is older than WDDM 2.7, or your company's IT policy restricts modifying low-level OS display settings.
