Draw Locations on the Map

You can draw specific geographic areas for your project and add them to the map as locations in the Project Map tool. You can use the geometry shape (points, lines, and polygons) to draw the unmapped locations. This will help you easily identify a mapped location on the map, and view its area and perimeter details.

Location geometry remains synchronized with the Locations tool, helping project teams create and manage spatial data in the map view where they work. You can also edit and manage locations in the Project Map tool.

1. Navigate to the project Map tool.

2. In the Project Items list on your left side, select the Locations tool.
   The location item list appears, along with the following options:

   • Use the Filter icon to search for the mapped or unmapped locations.

   • Use the Configure icon to set the view (List or Tree view).

3. Click the Filter icon and select Unmapped from the List dropdown menu.
   The list displays all the unmapped locations.

4. Select an unmapped location from the list and click the icon in the corresponding row under the Actions column.

5. Select one of the following geometry shapes to draw the location:

   • Point: For specific spots (for example, a column or valve).

   • Path: For linear routes (for example, a pipeline or trench).

   • Polygon: For defined areas (for example, a room, slab, or zone).
     On selecting a shape, the Detail Card in the Map pane appears.

6. To draw, click on the map to place your points.

   • For Points: Click to place the point on the map.

   • For Paths: Click to place vertices. Double-click or hit Enter to finish your drawing.

   • For Polygons: Click to place vertices. Double-click or hit Enter to close the shape and finish your drawing.
     When your drawing is complete, the geometry shape is saved and the location is added to the map automatically. The Details Card on the map shows the location area, perimeter, or length details.

7. To edit a location, click Edit in the Details Card and modify the area, perimeter, or length values.
   For example, if you have added Polygon, you can modify area and perimeter (in metric units) in the Detail Card.

8. To remove a location, use the icon in the Details Card.
