To access the beta and provide feedback Show/Hide Details

  • How to Access:

    • Ensure the new Locations tool is active on your project.

    • Ensure you have the required user permissions.

    • Navigate to your project's Locations tool.
Note: You can switch between the new experience and the legacy page using the buttons at the top right corner of the tool (the Manage Locations option (legacy) takes you to the legacy view).

  • How to Provide Feedback: Use the Share Feedback button located at the top right corner of the tool to report bugs or suggest improvements. Your feedback is critical to the final development of this tool.

Background

The Locations tool (web) transforms how you leverage Locations on your projects by consolidating all location management features under a dedicated menu item with specific user permissions. Unlike the legacy Locations page within the Project Admin tool, the new Locations tool introduces the ability to define locations as physical features on a map using points, paths, or polygons. You can now visualize locations alongside an improved hierarchical list and provide your project data with true spatial context.

Key Features Show/Hide

  • Streamlined Management: Create, edit, delete, and search for locations directly in an improved hierarchical list.

  • Control Access: Secure, organize, and maintain the integrity of your locations by controlling who can view, edit, delete, or export this information.

  • Visual Context: Define locations as shapes (for example, a concrete pour zone), paths (for example, a hallway), or specific points. See exactly where a location is on the map, not just its name in a list.

Things to Consider

Beta Permissions
  • Required User Permissions:

    • 'Admin' - Can configure settings, create, edit, delete, and map Locations.

    • 'Standard' - Can print QR codes and export Locations.

    • 'Read-Only' -  Can view Locations but cannot make changes.
Note: To map locations, the Maps tool must be active on your project. You must have the necessary permissions for the Maps tool to be able to visualize locations on the map.

Locations Tool Walkthrough

View Locations Show/Hide

The Locations tool is divided into two primary, distinct panes:

  1. The List View (Left): Displays your Location hierarchy (Tier 1 > Tier 2 > Tier 3). You can toggle between a standard List or a Tree view to better visualize parent/child relationships.

  2. The Map View (Right): Displays an interactive map of your jobsite where you can draw and view Location geometry.

Search and Filter Locations Show/Hide

  • Use the search bar to find locations by name or code. This filters both the list and the map simultaneously.

  • Use the Map Filter dropdown menu on the List view to filter by "Mapped" or "Unmapped" locations.

Configure Location Settings (Optional) Show/Hide

Using the gearIcons Settings Gearicon in the Locations tool, you can configure the following location settings:

  • Allow Locations to be created outside of the Locations tool and Locations Manager: When this option is selected, you will be able to create locations from any location field within the app without having to use the Locations tool or Locations Manager.

  • Include optional code: When this option is selected, the optional code is used by Document Manager (available in select, non-US regions) to tag and name documents with a location.

Note: The Icons Settings Gearicon is located at the top left side of the Locations tool.
