Reset a Project's Sequence Count for Asset Names

Background

Admins of a Project level Asset tool can configure naming standards and auto-generation rules so that asset names follow a consistent format across your project.

The 'Sequence' field appends sequential numbers (for example, -001, -002, -003) to create unique records for assets of the same type.

If you delete assets, reset the sequence counter to resume numbering after the highest remaining number. For example, if you have ten assets (-001 through -010) and delete the last three, the next asset defaults to -011. Resetting the sequence counter names the next asset -008 instead.

Things to Consider

  • You can reset as many times as you would like.

  • Existing IDs are not changed or renamed when you reset the sequence.

  • Skipped numbers in between deleted assets will remain empty.

  • Resetting the sequence cannot be undone.

Steps

  1. Navigate to the Project level Assets tool.

  2. Click the configure settings Icon Settings Gear Grey3 icon.

  3. Click the Rules tab.

  4. Click the caret Icon Arrow Expand next to Naming Standard to expand the section.

  5. Click Create or Edit.

  6. Click Configure Field Values.

  7. In the 'Reset Sequence Count' section, click Reset.

  8. Click Reset to confirm.
