Reset Default Sequence Count for Asset Names

Background

Company Admins can configure naming standards and auto-generation rules to keep asset names consistent across all projects. The 'Sequence' field appends sequential numbers (for example, -001, -002, -003) to create unique records for assets of the same type.

If you delete assets, reset the sequence counter to resume numbering after the highest remaining number. For example, if you have ten assets (-001 through -010) and delete the last three, the next asset defaults to -011. Resetting the sequence counter names the next asset -008 instead.

Things to Consider

  • You can reset as many times as you would like.

  • Existing IDs are not changed or renamed when you reset the sequence.

  • Skipped numbers in between deleted assets will remain empty.

  • Resetting the sequence cannot be undone.

Steps

  1. Navigate to the Company level Admin tool.

  2. Under 'Tool Settings', click Assets.

  3. Click the Rules tab.

  4. Click the caret Icon Arrow Expand next to Naming Standard to expand the section.

  5. Click Create.

  6. Click Configure Field Values.

  7. In the 'Reset Sequence Count' section, click Reset.

  8. Click Reset to confirm.
