Configuration du programme pour la planification des immobilisations (1)
Background
Forecast project costs using curves in Capital Planning to eliminate manual data entry across multi-year project timelines. Applying a curve automatically distributes planned amounts between selected project dates and recalculates the remaining balance as job costs shift. Using automated distribution methods speeds up long term planning and maintains balanced spending projections across all project phases.
Things to Consider
Required User Permissions:
'Standard' or 'Admin' level permissions on the company's Capital Planning tool.
Additional Information:
Start and end dates in Capital Planning are forecasting parameters and do not overwrite project milestone dates in other tools.
Selecting a start date earlier than the current month will not overwrite historical forecast data.
Manual edits made to a specific future month automatically adjust the remaining curve forward from that point.
Assigning a curve automatically re-forecasts the Remaining to Spend balance to zero whenever the planned amount or job to date costs change. Manual forecasts require you to distribute remaining amounts by hand.
Steps
Navigate to the company's Capital Planning tool.
Locate the project row you want to forecast.
Click the Start Date field and select a beginning forecast date from the calendar.
Click the End Date field and select a concluding forecast date from the calendar.
In the 'Curve' column, select a distribution curve to automatically spread the planned amount across the project's monthly forecasts between the start and end dates:
Front-Loaded: Allocates heavier expenditures toward the early phases of the project.
Back-Loaded: Allocates the bulk of spend toward the final closeout periods.
Bell : Ramps up spend gradually, peaking at mid-project before tapering off.
Linear: Distributes budget values evenly across each period in the duration.
Manual: Allocate specific budget amounts to individual periods directly. For more information, see Forecast Project Costs Manually.
NoteUpdates apply only to future forecasts; past forecasts remain unchanged.
Changes save automatically.
Review the resulting period values across the timeline grid.
