Column-specific forecasting and percentage-based forecasting features are available for configuration in the Company level Admin tool and for use in the Project level Budget tool. Column-specific forecasting allows you to create unique monthly forecast spreads for each forecasting view based on the selected 'Forecasting Column To Spread'. This forecasting method prevents the sharing of spreads across views at the budget code line level. As a result, updating the forecast spread for a line item in one view will not automatically change the spread values for that same line item in your other forecasting views.
To keep monthly forecast spreads independent across views, assign a distinct Forecasting Column To Spread to each forecasting view. Spreads are linked to the specific column assigned to that view rather than syncing globally across all views by budget code line item.
Different Spread Columns (Independent): When forecasting views include different spreadable columns, monthly spread values remain unique to each view on the same line item. For example, View A can spread Estimated Cost at Completion at 20% in August, while View B spreads Projected Cost To Complete at 10% in August on the same line item.
Shared Spread Columns (Synced): If multiple forecasting views include the same spreadable column, manual updates to line items such as 'Start Date', 'End Date', 'Curve' (e.g., Manual, Linear), and monthly 'Forecast (%)' will automatically sync and display consistently across all of those views.
When a company joins the column-specific forecasting beta program, the values in existing projects' forecasting views are preserved.
