Why am I receiving the error 'No user found with the given email address' when logging in with SSO?

Background

When logging in to Procore through Single Sign-On (SSO), this error occurs if the email address you enter does not match the email address associated with your Procore account. SSO requires an exact match between the primary email address in your company's identity provider directory and the email address listed in the Procore Directory tool. If these addresses do not match, Procore cannot verify your identity or log you in.

Answer

Contact your internal IT department to resolve the mismatch by running a Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) trace.

  1. Ask your internal IT team to run a SAML trace on your login attempt to identify the discrepancy between the email address your identity provider sends and the email address assigned to your Procore account.

  2. Have your IT administrator update your email address in either your identity provider directory or the Company level Directory tool so both entries match exactly.

If your IT team needs help reading the SAML trace file, they can send an email with the trace file attached to support@procore.com for assistance.

Tip: Why can't Procore Support capture the SAML trace for me?

Because your browser communicates directly with your private identity provider during authentication, Procore Support cannot access or capture your sign-in data. A SAML trace records the transaction directly from your computer so your IT team can resolve access issues:

  • Identify mismatched credentials: The log reveals any discrepancy between the email address your identity provider sends and the email address assigned to your user account in Procore.

  • Restore system access: After your IT team or company administrator updates the email address to match across both systems, you can sign in to Procore.
