Import Locations Using the Procore BIM Plugin with Revit®

Managing locations across a construction project can be a tedious, manual process prone to human error. By leveraging Autodesk® Revit® and the Procore BIM Plugin, you can bridge the gap between your architectural model and your project management platform.

Instead of manually recreating floor plans and room hierarchies, this integration allows you to sync your "Source of Truth"—the BIM model—directly into Procore. This ensures that field teams, architects, and all stakeholders are using identical terminology and location data, whether they are tracking a deficiency in the field or viewing a model in the office.

  • Importing adds new locations without replacing existing ones. To make changes, use Edit Tiered Locations.

• Other ways to create locations in Procore:

  • Drawings: Automatically generate locations directly from your project drawings. See Generate Locations Hierarchy from Drawings.

  • Admin Tool: Manually create and organize your hierarchy within the project's settings. See Manually Create Locations Hierarchy.

  • Microsoft Excel Import: Fill out a template and send it to Procore Support or your point of contact for a multi-tiered import. See Request a Multi-tiered Locations Import.

• Download and Install the Procore BIM Plugin

• To import locations from Autodesk® Revit®, you must first allow new location creation. See Allow or Disallow Users to Create Locations within a Tool. Enabling this setting also allows users to create locations from other project tools.

1. Start Autodesk® Revit® on your Windows® computer.

2. Open the Revit® model containing the locations you intend to import.

3. Click the Procore tab to launch the Procore BIM Plugin.

4. Click Export Locations.

5. Select the destination Company and Project.
   

   Note

   If you don't have sufficient permission to add locations to the Locations utility in the Project Admin tool, an error message appears in the footer.

6. Verify the summary of levels and rooms, then click Next.
   

   Note

   If duplicate locations are detected, you can click Cancel to stop the import or Yes, Continue to publish all unique locations.

7. Click Publish and allow the process to finish.

8. Select your desired options:

   • If the sync fails, click Retry.

   • If it succeeds, click Done. Procore automatically opens the project's Locations tool in your browser to display the newly imported data.

9. Click the X to exit the plugin.
